What is it?
Explorer Scouts is a section of Scouts for 14 to 18 year old boys and girls. The aim of the section is to provide the opportunity to ‘you’ to devise your own agenda and goals within the section, to try different things and meet new people.
There is a strong leadership team in place that have worked together since Explorers started in 2001. The leaders have vast experience in helping you get the most out of your Scouting.
To date we have managed to help:
- Over 20 young adults to achieve the Explorer Belt, a ten day expedition overseas covering vast distances. Now, some groups have completed this by hiking over 150miles carrying their own equipment- this is not the 25th way. We have manage to complete the Explorer Belt by:-
- Cycling over 220 miles around the D-day landings; and
- Chartering 3 yachts off the Dalmatian cost in Croatia! What would you rather do!?
- With the Leaders guidance, 3 Explorers have now past their Queen’s Scout Award, the highest accolade a Scout can achieve.
You can see by the photos that our trips range from camping in England, France, Luxembourg to cycling round Jersey and skiing in France.
Want to join us?
We meet every week at Burnt Ash School in Bromley between 7:45 – 9:30. There is a varied program in place devised by the Explorers every week and you would be more than welcome to come and join us. Please fill out a form on the contact page for more information and to arrange a visit.
Don’t forget to check out our page with photos and testimonials from our fantastic ski trip to Les Gets in France in February 2012! We also have a video of some of the highlights of the trip for you to watch. It doesn’t stop here either, there are plans already being put together for further fantastic trips and activities for Explorers in our unit.
