Cubs Turn Firefighters

One of the Badges that we were working towards was our Fire Safety Badge, the Cubs had to learn about different causes of fires inside their home and how to prevent fires from happening. Also they had to learn the quickest and safest way to get out of their house if there was a fire.

The Cubs also participated in a Fire Drill out our meeting place so that they know what to do if there was a real fire while we’re having our meeting. The Cubs also looked at different kinds of early warning alarms for fires including; Smoke Alarms, Heat Alarms and Carbon Monoxide Alarms.

The last requirement for the Badge was that the Cubs had to visit a Fire Station, so on Thursday 21st June 2018 we went and visited Bromley Fire Station. We were shown around the Fire Station and then taken outside to look around the Fire Engine and even got to activate the Siren and use one of their fire hoses.

After our thrilling visit to the station, the Cubs were all awarded their Fire Safety Badge, which was very well deserved.
