Explorers at Skreens Park
We went for a short weekend away at Skreens Park campsite near Chelmsford in Essex. No tents to worry about as we stayed in a building. Even though the drive up on Friday was back to back rain, the weather was kind to us as we managed Saturday and Sunday without any more rain so we were free to enjoy some outdoor activities including traversing wall, rifle shooting and some orienteering and bearings exercises is the large, very wet field.
One advantage of staying in a building is having a full kitchen, so that wasn’t wasted with a full fry up on the Saturday morning, big homemade lasagne cooked for dinner, some focaccia bread was also baked and brownies made as a sweet treat. The other main advantage of course is central heating and lovely hot showers so after lots of time spent in a wet, cold, muddy field that was very much appreciated at this time of year.
A nice weekend away was enjoyed by all and now attentions turn to our practice cycling weekend at the end of May in preparation of doing the Explorer Belt cycling around Normandy, France in August.
