Explorers go sailing at Bewl Water

Sailing at Bewl WaterHaving missed out on the opportunity to sail whilst at camp over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend due to weather, a determined group of our Explorer Scouts travelled down to Bewl Water for a day of Dinghy Sailing. Most of the unit had been sailing on the group’s boats before, however the conditions we more challenging than they have been used to with some strong gusts across the reservoir.

With the sails reefed and everyone prepared for the conditions, every member of the unit managed to get out onto the water and have a sail. As always with the trips that take place down to use the boats, it was a successful day that saw some get a taste for sailing and others continue to improve. Another trip is planned soon to make the most of the summer.
